Drabant Does It Again.

I've just had some more news from  those fine chaps in Russia, Drabant miniatures.  My next shipment will include some new releases.
The  E range- Nomadic Horse People will have Pechengs added
The Pechengs

Tallifer will be added to the Normans

Tallifer- another Norman personality.

and a new pack of Saxons will replace the old A2801 pack with some really smart active figures.
Anyhow judge for yourselves as here are the pictures.
The new Saxons

As you can see they are well up to the Drabant standard.
The new Saxons will mix with A2807 the shieldwall to make a pretty impressive unit . I may be even tempted back into the Dark Ages myself.
I'm actually tempted to  sell my 40mm Viking and Normans and replace them with these fantastic models or maybe I'll just add some to the collection

Three More From Moscow.

Nick Bokarev- Owner of Drabant has sent me pictures of his 3 newest  Miniatures- All in 28 mm.
They are the start of a range of "Persons"- ie Personalities for his growing and deservedly popular Dark Ages range.
I'll have some of these with my next order from Moscow- which currently Nick is making for me .

Sviatoslav. Grand Prince of Kiev.
Volkhv - Heather Priest.

A Heather Priest is some kind of pre- Christian priest of the pagan Rus - so I am told. .

William the Conqueror

The last one of course is well known to us.. William the Bastard !
All are of course well up to the hight standards set by the rest of the Drabant range.  I await their arrival with intrest
Prices will be £3.00 for the foot personalities and £5.00 for William.

They are not mine(yet). They are Alans ....

A deliberately daft title for what is basically just a note to show off some more new Drabant 28mm figures These are of course Alans. Another of the Steppe peoples  of the Early Medieval period.
 Dammed nice models these.

As you can see these are well up to the standard.. I'll have these as soon as my next- re-suply from Russia arrives.

More Russian Goodness

Here are a couple of photos of Drabant's latest releases which I'll be adding to the website as soon as I get stock.
These are Cumans and are well up to the standard we have come to expect from Drabant.

PS. I've just been informed that some Alans are also on the sculpting table. Needless to say Photos when I have them and stock in hand as soon as I can get them . I'm currently awaiting a re-supply from Russia which , hopefully will contain these goodies as well as re- stock of  much of the rest of the Dark Ages range . I'm pretty low on these currently as they have been moving just a tad ....

Saxon shiedwall- of course the pack will include shields  so they won't look as if they are merelywaving at you!
Those moving horses look truly superb. I should have these in stock in time for Claymore- maybe earlier .....

A Rose by any other name.

As you know Gentle reader I'm a fan of Drabant Miniatures. Their 40mm are the Dogs wossnames and increasingly so is the growing 28mm Dark Ages Range- for which more figures are due this coming Autumn. More Norman Knights and some crossbowmwn so I'm told- can't wait.
So whern fellow enthusiast Ian Martin sent me some pics of his Vikings- painted by Jez at Shakespear studios  I thouight I'd get them up for other to see. Then as I'm thinking bout this Lo nad Behold Nick Biuxey of the "Like A Stomewall Group sent me a bunch  of pics of Dale  Askews  recently painted Normans from the same range- pinted by Dale . It therefore seemed a bit of a No- brainer really to put both sets of pics together so that readers can get a good look at these speldid figureswithout me telling you how tasty they are- let other chaps do that for me.

Mostly Saxons  from the collection of Ian Martin- Painted by Shakespear Studio and photographed by Ian.

Normans Painted by Dale Askew- and from His collection  Photographed by Nick Buxey.
Photographs used by the kind permission of the owners of the figures.

Little Darlings....

I've just this day recieved pictures from Nick Bokarev of Drabant of his splendid new figures- soon to be available.  the new releases are Norman Cavalry a mounted King Harold and escort Norman Archers and Norman command.

This release sees Drabants first 28mm mounted figures and as you would expect given the quality of the 40mm Horses these are superb
 Norman Cavalry

King Harold and mounted bodyguard.

Norman foot Command

Norman Archers.
I'm told the cavalry will come 2 in a box and I think UK price will be around the £8.00 per box mark
Foot figure packs will be the same as they are now.
I hope to have stock of these in time for Salute.

Russian Quickie....

No not  a vodka based cocktail discovered in a dubious nightclub but simply a couple of pics of Drabants new viking sets painted by Nick Bokarev. I'll have castings of these by the end of the month with luck- and certainly in time for Smoggycon along with the new Normans and re-supplies of  the rest of this expanding range.
The Command group.

The Archers.

Drabant does Normans

Here are a couple of pics on soon to be released  Drabant 28mm Normans . The Dark Ages range continues to grow and I'll have these sometime in October along with the new Vikings already mentioned in an earlier post

The 2 sets show both armoured and unarmoured Infantry and would fit into any  Feudal Western army from about 1050 onwards.  up until about 1150 or perhaps a bit later on the fringes.
Well up to the Drabant standard.

Moscovite Magnificence continues...

IN between preparing for the splendid insanity that is Salute and awaiting a majore -resupply from the USA for that show , casting up new 15mm Modern chaps , new Aircraft I havn't had a lot of spare time- and frankly what I've had I've tried to make "soldier-free" - you get sick of the little lead gits at times. Nevetheless when Nick Bokarev sent me thse pics of the newest Drabant 28mm Dark Ages Rus I did utter a small OOOHtasty ! of appreciation. I won't have these 2 new packs in time for Salute- but should I hope have them in tiome for Triples. I'll have the rest of the range at Salute though along with the 40mm . So these pictures depeict 2 more packs of this growing range. Ilove the slightly eastern look - as you would expect. Since its looking incresingly likly that "I hate Tricorn Hats" is set to continue- even to the extent of selling off my 28mm 7YW forces - assuming I can get the right price - then some of these chaps are likely to find their way into my personal collection.

Counting down to D Day

Well the Drabant 298mm stuff has been ordered up so I should have them in about 3 weeks with luck. All the way from Moscow. Rather than ramble on here are pics of 3 packs painted up - by Nick Bokarev -
So currently there are 5 sets with more to come. There are also some more 40mm releases which I'll be adding to the OGUK website when I get them. Price for these 28mm looks like being £6.20 per set- a little higher than I'd hoped but still in line with several home grown makers who are around the same price or more exspensive.

More Dark Ages from Drabant

Yet more previews of the up and coming Drabant 28mm dark Ages range
Fron the top- Saxon archers- well they'd do for almost any dark age archer types I can see them in Carolingian a or other germanic armies just as easily. Saxon Command group - I particularly like the horn player unlike many you see he does not look like he's sucking on an overlarge stick of rock ! And Finally some very tasty- eastern looking Vikings. All of these will come with separate weapons and shileds where apparoriate- see the picture of the Saxon weapons in and earlier post. Now I must get back to actually doingf some painting and photography.

Drabant does it again.

Following fairly hard on the heeels of those lovely Drabant 28mm Saxon thegns - shown in an earlier post come the first pic of some Saxon Fyrd. Again in 28mm. I'll let the pics speak for themselves except to say that I will be carrying these as soon as they become generally available. I'm told September so not too long a wait.
and now the separate weapons- little gems in themselves.
Personally I can't wait until I have stock.

Momentous Missive from Moscow !

Regular readers of this will know that I'm a big fan of the 40mm figures from Drabant Miniatures of Moscow. So much so that when they first appeared I wasted no time in Contacting their supremo Nick and buying some bth for myself and as a trader. Since then time and distance permitting I've tried to stock all they do to a greater or lesser extent - depending upon loval market popularity. Nowe as you expect I'm always a bit behid- there are about half a dozen figure I don't have yet- that soon to be fixed. Now in my view these fine figures deserve to be more popular than they are but- and its an aficionardo here 40mm is never going to be as popular a scale as so called "28mm" . That's just a fact of life . Nevertheless hold on to you hats for Drabant are doing a 28mm rangeand here are some pictures of the first few.
The first release in this new 25mm range will be Dark ages Saxons- eventually covering the whole gamut from Sutton Hoo to Hastings. Normans and Vikings are to follow. Now I'll be carrying these as they appear. and UK prices will be about the same as say Gripping beast at about £5.50-£6.00 per pack of 4 , Not bad IMHO for imported stuff. Now despite the fact that my own Dark Ages stuff is in 40mm I'll be having some of these- probably for King Alfreds campaigns.. or maybe Athelstan. Here are a couple of pics of the painte Saxon thegns just to whet your appetites
Now these are pretty impressive- not my painting I hasteb to add but Nickolay Bokarev. I'll be taking orders for these closer to the time of release but having a cruel streak I just want to set your glands going.
