More Mutiny Men , a Shiny Lasalle and some short but pretty little dudes.

It has been a busy few weeks at OGUK so personal figure painting has gone slightly by the board.  Nevertheless a few half- finished items that have been on the painting table a good while have finally been finished. Firstly some Punjab Frontier Force- 2nd Punjab Infantry - that my mate Jim the Builder painted about 4 years ago that have languished in a box since then- saw the light of day and have has a bit of a touch up and a basing , They are the Sikh Infantry pack from the Old Glory Indian Mutiny range.  Secondly a model of Lasalle from the Old Glory Napoleonic personalities range -. Painted by David Wilson a long time ago and needing a good bit of TLC and a nice shiny coatto go with the "Shiny1809" project  which keeps gathering figures here and there.
Punjab Frontier force Infantry,
The Indian mutiny forces are also growing slowly. Hope to get the first game in before the end of this year. As for rules I'm currently thinking either modified Charge or perhaps The Sword and the Flame

Shiny Lasalle waving his pipe at the Austrians

Blue Moon 15mm Landsknecht pike men.

The Generals pack from the WL Landsknects and Spanish half of the range.

As for Lasalle - well he was just too pretty to ignore.and while "Shinyspern" or whatever is still a long way off- if you don't paint 'em them you don't get to  use 'em .
The only other chaps I've managed to paint were a few of the new Blue Moon 15mm Italian Wars range - which is selling fast- I'm already out of some codes which only arrived at the end of May. More are on order as you would expect but there could well be a bit of a wait for some replacements. But as usual we will get them out to you as soon as we have more. And yes I still have stock of most codes but at the rate they are shifting .....

Italian Wars and other arrivals

Finally after a week stranded in Gateshead my  latest shipment from the USA has arrived. Aside from the restock I needed it contained the first tranche of Blue Moon's new Italian Wars range.
Now biased as I am these are a bit special. So far I have perhaps 20 packs out of a 60 plus pack range and I hope to get the next release in stock before Salute.
These are large 15mm - so 18mm really by today's nomenclature. The couple I have actually measured are 17mm from base surface to eye level.
The list with photos of the available packs will appear on the website  under the Blue Moon section in the next few days as soon as the Web Mistress  does the deed. US prices are a little higher than the standard packs so these will also have to be a tad bearer- so a 30 fig pack will be £15.00 inc VAT other packs in proportion
So far I have both Landknects and Swiss  .Command and pikemen and artillery crews. More news as I dig them out of the crates.

I also have the first of the Blue Moon French Napoleonic Imperial Guard- Old Guard Grendiers and Chasseurs a Pied. together with an American 6 pdr for the War of 1812

All of these new packs are now activated and available 21 packs of Italian Wars(more to come) 2 packs of French Imperial Guard and a pack of American 6pdr guns for the Warv of 1812.

The waiting will soon be over....

It has been a bit of a thin time here at OGUK the last week or so. I've been waiting for my next shipment from the USA for what seems forever.  Well it should arrive this coming Wednesday, according to UPS. There will be 11 boxes/crates with an awful lot of soldiers in them. Some of this stuff was actually ordered in Mid-July. Indeed some was ordered in late June but didn't get into my last shipment. That would be the new 15mm Boxer Rebellion from Blue Moon. However more of this range has come out since then so I should have almost all of it in this shipment.

Local readers of this might wonder why I'm writing on the same day as the Border Reiver show- well chaps I'm not there nor will ever be again. For details see earlier posts or indeed contact me directly

Anyhow on to more important matters- well anything at all really. I'm also hoping to have at least some of the new Blue Moon Napoleonic Russian Cossacks in this shipment though probably not all of them as some were released too late to go in I think. Likewise the newest British Napoleonic release but any that are missing from this lot I'll get in next time which shipment will hopefully be timed to arrive in time for the Derby Worlds at the new venue in rural Leicestershire on 7th and 8th October
Now as I have said previously I'm only taking a 12 foot stand at this event so will only be bringing 15mm and possibly 10mm to the show. The only 28mm we will take for certain is Drabant  Raven Banner and just maybe our remaining discounted unit packs. All other stuff will need to be pre-ordered although we will be offering our "pay at the show and get it post free" service for items we don't have with us.

So that is all the news that is fit to print this time around More info as I get it
The Old Glory UK newshound .....

Dateline September 7th 2017
11 boxes arrived yesterday- finished unpacking them and have sorted much  but not all
I now have stock of the new Boxer Rising range and the new Russian Napoleonic Cossacks as well as a bundle of Mad Anthony Wayne.
These will be added to the website in the next few days- some are already there but need to be activated.

Drabant Does It Again.

I've just had some more news from  those fine chaps in Russia, Drabant miniatures.  My next shipment will include some new releases.
The  E range- Nomadic Horse People will have Pechengs added
The Pechengs

Tallifer will be added to the Normans

Tallifer- another Norman personality.

and a new pack of Saxons will replace the old A2801 pack with some really smart active figures.
Anyhow judge for yourselves as here are the pictures.
The new Saxons

As you can see they are well up to the Drabant standard.
The new Saxons will mix with A2807 the shieldwall to make a pretty impressive unit . I may be even tempted back into the Dark Ages myself.
I'm actually tempted to  sell my 40mm Viking and Normans and replace them with these fantastic models or maybe I'll just add some to the collection

A News size for the ECW

Now that a good bit of the new Blue Moon English Civil War range is available, I've been trying to work out what I should do for myself using it.
I've had ECW armies on and off since 1977 and these days, and for the last decade it is probably overall my favourite period for modelling, collecting and wargaming. I've around a thousand painted models in  2 distinct collections plus about 100 or a bit less in 40mm- though some of these last are more strictly 30 Years War.
Nevertheless in all this Pike and Shotting I have never done anything in 15mm- until now.
All right a mere 14 figures isn't much but its a start and there are more on the painting desk.
So here are 3 pics of the first fruits of a possible 15mm ECW project which if I continue will be the New Model Army expedition to Flanders and the Royalist Army in Exile with Spanish and French regiments for each side as well.
Will I get that far. Only time will tell.
15mm Parliamentarian General.
I know I'm biased but I do like these little dudes.

New Model pikemen in 15mm. The flags are handpainted ,made from wine bottle foil.
and finally for the moment.
Officer in Ciurassier Armour from the same pack as the first picture.

I should have more packs from this range available in March- the guns and the Horse.  Irish and Scots should be along later.

In Time for Vapnartak at York.

I'm currently unpacking 11 crates from the USA- which incidentally are costing me a grand more than the same order this time last year- not in US dollars of course but in post- Brexit not as good as they used to be pound notes. However it is still cheaper than trying to produce the stuff in the UK what with business rates and local council kickbacks and rent for premises (which is outrageous)and VAT  which adds more costs so despite the current burst of lunacy I'll keep at it.

 so new stuff for York
Top of the list will be those splendid Raven Banner Games ACW figures mentioned in the previous post
Also a couple of new packs of Sash and Saber ACW.- Frock coated Confederate Infantry. The Sand S  range now stands at over 50 packs
There are also some new Blue Moon ECW packs - but not the guns which did not seem to be included in the shipment- I've added them to the next order.
More Napoleonics in the shape of more late Saxon Hussars and Artillery crew both horse and Foot
so about 17 or so new packs for York- more than some dudes have in total
Oh and all the normal stuuf- the ECW range and most of the Saxons have never been to a show before .....

Back to the Thin Lead Line.

It is going to take a while to get over the current and continuing  political/ financial turmoil but I suppose we have to start somewhere. Picking up the pieces I mean
Now as it happens I've received a list of up and coming new packs from Blue Moon which I expect to have in August- hopefully in time for Claymore but certainly in time for Partizan
this lot reads so far as follows.

15NMW- 15 Wurttemburg Generals (5 mounted)

15NMW-07 Wurttemburg Foot Artillery in Helmet
15NMW-09 Wurttemburg Horse Artillery in Helmet

 Seven Years War.
SYW-112 Prussian Freicorps
SYW-113 Prussian Jaegers
SYW-204 Austrian Grenz

Prices will of course depend to an extent upon the exchange rate and the bank rate. Prices may have to go up a quid a bag  across the board for the larger packs perhaps 50p for the smaller ones. As always I'll keep price rises to a minimum - and avoid them if I can.

The following day
I've also received a largish list of new Vehicles for Command Decision  bot WW2 and Modern
Much of the WW2 are Russian but the list(Various BT type tanks and variants) also includes a good number of US vehicles such as the locust light tank..
The modern vehicles are  US models- such as M-60  but also include M-109 SPG variants.
In total there are 38 new packs of tanks .

Skyhawk.

Argentinian A-4 Skyhawk ove the Falklands - 1982

Finally I finished  what should have been an easy- ish paint job. took longer than I'd have liked simply because other stuff got in the way. Like work for instance- which of course this was anyway. So an Argentinian A-4 Skyhawk. The A-4 was a pretty ubiquitous aircraft in its day sering with the USA in the Vietnam War The Isrealis during the Yom Kippur Warand of course the Argentines during the Falklands War. Other airforces including Kuwait New Zealand and Brazil also used the A-4.
It therefore seemed natural for Lil'flyin' Fokkers to make one to complement the Frieforce Miniatures 15mm Falklands range.
LFF also of course do a Pucara- but that one is still on the painting table....

More shiny dudes

Well despite the  rush of recent shows and the preparing for the second biggest show of our year- Thats Donnington or Derby World Wargames if you prefer -   only Salute is bigger- I'm still managing the odd half- hour here and there at the paintng table.
I've evn painted a few 15mm- other than tanks which is a minor miracle. Nevertheless Mostly I've been shining on
Shiny or what!
More shiny- the Shinyloo French cavalry growing slowly . I'll be accused of having and army next !
I now have almost enough of the shiny lads for a small game - possibly featherstonian possibly Youngian.... that still remains to be seen.

Not shiny but short- you saw them here first !

The picture above shows some of the soon to be released Blue Moon 15mm Dacians- these lads have their choppers out with a vengeance. I'm also told that there will be Imperial Romans and Sarmations in the mix as well. I've also seen other Dacian Infantry. I assume- but don't KNOW that these will be out at Fall In or thereabouts.
but you saw them here first !!!

Pretty 15mm Moderns .

I Have this morning received a package from Jez at Shakespear studios-  a fine painting service this  containing  painted examples of the latest 3 packs of my Firfore15mm range
t So we have the 2 packs of Falklands war special forces- British and Argentinian and a command group for the Rhodesian Troopies.
The Falklands Brits will of course do for 1980s cold war scenarios too - which may be on the cards since I've just acquired a copy of Cold War Commander- nice looking ruleset- first impressions are that it may be a tad "gamey"("organisations "are based around the points system rather than the actuality or instance  )  for my taste but it does contain some neat little ideas. and may flow better in larger games than say  tank wreak or even Combined Arms- watch this space.
However back to the plot  here without further comment are the pics of the new figures- all available from the OGUK website.
I'm talking to Him over there !

British  Special forces Falklands War

Argentinian "Buzo Tactico- or cdo 601 or 602

Command for the two packs of Rhodesian troopies already released.
I'll have packs of all of these plus the rest of the fireforce range at  Border Reiver this Saturday and Partizan on Sunday.

Hawker Hunter

Well I managed it at last.  I finally got my 1/100th scale Hawker Hunter in production and available.
So I'm just a bit chuffed.
As a mainstay of the RAF during the late 1950- early 60s the Hunter  became an iconic machine. Under RAF auspices Hunters served in Aden in a ground attack role.
However it was as an export model that the Hunter served in numerous  airforeces worlwide and saw considerable combat scoring Victories against such diverse aircraft as F-86 Sabre  MirageIII and A4 Skyhawk. Fighting in the Jordanian, Iraqi  Rhodesian and Indian Air forces amongst many others.

These tow pictures show my first Hunter in Rhodesian Air fore colours. No1 Sqn used Hunters throughtout the bush War of the 70s. Usually in the ground attack role though they were  also used for "overwatch" missions on externals in case  Tanzanian or Mozambique Migs  wanted to play- but they never did.
I hope to add more jets to this range  all to 1/100th scale - to match the ground troops. Next up should be a Pucara for the Falklands war (not strictly a jet) then hopefully A-4  Mig 17  and F-86 and just maybe a Vampire  but we'll see what occours .....

For your Future Entertainment...

For chaps of a certain age the title phrase is redolent of cinematic memeories. Sometime between the main feature and the adenoidal brunette in the miniskirt with the ice cream tray (Dairy Maid anyone- Drink on a stick?) would come the for your Future Enteraiment slot- previews of future movies so here we have previews of future models First Drabant - more of those wonderful 25mm Dark ages are on the way. This time the lads have their choppers out!
Again to me these have a slightly Eastern look which is as it should be. I'll let you know when they are actually available. Next up my continuing 15mm Modern project and some "Middle Eastern Irregulars"... well Tally Tubbies as I've heard them referred to. There will be 5 new packs - going out under the Firforce miniatures label
First a Command group. Chap on his mobile- probably calling his Mum in Bradford !! Chap on a laptop - updating his Facebook page- status Martydom approaches get the virgins ready ...and of course the leader/spotter who would easily double up as a weapons crew for RCL or 120mm Mortar.
Next a 12.7mm HMG The DHSK or similar with attendent crew and a chap with an RCL round.
This one is admittedly a bit of an oddity and I may put it in with the HMG pack rather than a single. It's a seated crewman for the 14.5mm AAMG in the CDMW range and has the seat fixed to his bum so without a bit of filing isn't much use for anything else. Now the gunpack comes with 4 weapons - either Truck or ground mount so this chap is needed.
Now the Motorbikes- 3 different in the pack - all I have to decide is how many of eac. In addition I'll have a pack pony trian with loads and a pony mounted Warlord I'll photoagraph these when I've finished paionting my pre-prod set . Also out soon will be 2 new WW2 aircraft - A hawker tempest and a Beaufighter and just possibly a couple more 40mm ECW/TYW figures.... I'll keep you posted.

Fireforce 15 Miniatures.

I've long had an interest in "Bushfire Wars" - those post WW2and modern conflicts that still bedevil us. Those of the African continent being of more than passing interest.
I'd long wanted to take a closer look at the Rhodesian War where - however poor the cause - that small and undersupplied Army fought magnificently. So here at last are the first of the "troopies" in 15mm .
These are pics of the greens of the first couple of packs . Basically Moving group and firing group- each group having an FN mag as well as SLRs. An Alouette Helicopter is on the Drawing board - for both K car and G car roles as well as a Cessna. We already have a C-47 for the "paradaks" and a couple of packs of Old Glory African Irregulars for the "terrs" . Pick up trucks and plenty of Warpac/russian stuff for any "externals" you might wish to mount .
These will be available as soon as I can get 'em into production.

Busy busy.

Had a busy few weeks here at OGUK. What with bundles of new kit coming out left and right. More on the way too. Finally managed to get a few more JACDAW 30mm out French Grendiers- Charging Black Watch and more French Guards.
Biggest release from the UK is on the aircraft front though where we have a total of 7 new planes either out or iminent- all WW2 The picture is of a Fokker- no honest - in Finnish Service with skis to land on frozen lakes. We now have about 50 model aircraft and what started as a small project has grown a bit.
The 18th century pics are of course all JACDAW. These examples painted by sculptor David Wilson . This range also continues to grow albeit more slowly than the aircraft but there are now around 40 packs all told French ,British and a few Austrians with more to come.
As you know I'm quite taken with the Bluemoon 15mm Marlburians- well got my eyes on the ACW range last week and they are every bit as good - perhaps better. Now there is no way I'm doing ACW in 15mm go too many 40mm for that but these are very nice indeed so I'll be having a couple of display units painted for the shows and photgraphs.
For now though its back to painting 40mm Napoleonics - I need to have more French done by mid June for thre Durham show . These appear firsat as I almost always forget that you upload picture ares about face as Grandad Albert would have said- he was the one who rode in the TT in the 1930s so family legend has it . Certainly he was a great motor bike fiend so heres to the King of the mountain... Non TT fans might not get that but I always make a point of watching the TT races if I can .
